Starting January 1, 2014, ICANN, the organization that manages top-level domain names, introduced a requirement for domain owners to verify their contact information. This ensures that all domain registrations have accurate and up-to-date contact details.
How Do I Validate My Domain Contact Information?
You will receive an email at the address listed with your domain. Simply click the verification link in the email. Once clicked, a confirmation page will appear letting you know your contact information has been successfully verified.
⚠️ Important: You cannot fully use your domain until you complete this step. Be sure to open the email and click the link as soon as possible.
How Can I View My Domain Contact Details?
You can check your domain contact information in your my.h4y.us control panel. Alternatively, a WHOIS search shows public information, but if you have domain privacy enabled, your details will be protected from public view, so the control panel is the best option.
When Does My Domain Contact Information Need to Be Verified?
You must verify your information whenever you:
-
Register a new domain (using new contact information).
-
Renew an existing domain.
-
Transfer a domain.
-
Change the contact information on a valid domain.
Do I Have to Verify Every Domain?
No. Once you complete verification for one domain using the same registrant contact information, all future domains registered with that contact information are considered verified and will not require additional verification.
How Long Do I Have to Complete Verification?
You have 15 days from the time you receive the notification. Reminders are sent on days 5, 10, and 13 if the verification link has not been clicked.
What If I Don’t Receive the Email?
Check your spam folder first. If you still haven’t received it within 24 hours, contact our billing department to confirm your email and have the verification email resent.
What Happens If I Don’t Click the Verification Link?
If you don’t verify within 15 days, your domain will be suspended, and any website or email associated with it will be unavailable. Visitors will see a page explaining that the domain needs verification. Reactivation is possible but may take up to 48 hours, so it’s best to complete verification promptly.
